What is Your Story?
What Is Your Story? Or how to adorn yourself with one. There is something worth knowing about yourself that is especially interesting. Unfortunately, it's all too often trapped inside.
If you chronicle all of your life experiences, you may discover an awakening trend. We are all prone to focusing on the negative. Those negative thoughts blemish any meaningful opportunity to understand what our real true story is all about.
What is your real story, and why should we care? A story about yourself should not be make believe, and I'm going to tell you right now we all have a tendency to aggrandize, myself included. It can be an epic fairy tale. It’s what we imagine ourselves to be when we’re trying to impress others. We are all guilty of a little embroidering now and then. That's what makes our lives interesting, and the lives of others interested.
How to unabashedly craft your story. First off compartmentalize all those negative thoughts about yourself, no one really cares and besides if you share them with others, you become a complete bore. Focus your thoughts on the image of yourself and what you would like to be known for. Here's the reality, “You become what you think about all day long.”
If you don't believe me, play this game with yourself. Count how many times you say something negative in your internal thoughts every few minutes. You’re going to have to let your mind run free in order to tune into those thoughts. You will quickly discover a pattern that rumination is the story. You don’t want a negative one. Replace those thoughts with positive ones and repeat that all day long. If you can manage to do this repeatedly for several days, you will discover an interesting pattern related to your approach to your life.
After you have done this for a while, ask yourself. What is my story? You will frankly discover you have a healthy one. A factual story that you can confidently share with others. More importantly you’ll create a better understanding of the beautiful self within.
“Indulge yourself with the feelings of kindness, leave out the insensitive ones. Find yourself in good company when you are all alone.”
